Sacred Light

This is a picture of my family on June 4th, 2011 just after my oldest child's wedding in the Logan, UT Temple.  I did not go inside to witness his wedding. It was a painful choice I had to make; six months earlier, I had gone through a 'faith crisis', a 'dark night of the soul' experience, and learned horrifying things about the religion I had loved, raised my children to believe wholeheartedly, and lived with every fiber of my being for 42 years. Those shocking things rocked me to my core, shook my world's foundation, and shattered everything I thought I knew for sure.         Because Alex was getting married in the temple, t hat forced me to ‘come out’ as a non-believer to my friends and my family sooner than I would have liked. I had a current temple recommend. I could attend their wedding. IF , I could pretend I still believed and had a testimony of their myths and fables. I was bamboozled by the Mormon Church for over 40 years. It was one of the hardest things I have ever done to challenge those intensely held, ingrained beliefs and change my mind about them. Admitting I was wrong was extremely difficult to put it lightly. I understand why so many people would rather stay in the religion of their childhoods, with their heads buried snugly  in the sand, than leave it after they discover the deceitful ‘man behind the curtain’. Ready for my book signing at the  Hay House "I Can Do It" conference!  The crowd lined up fast to get their books.   It was so fun to meet and greet people who wanted a copy of my book. I signed 75 books in less than 30 mins.   It is a memory I will always treasure, sharing my work with like minded folks...    and getting to briefly hear their stories too.    It was so beautiful to connect with so many people, heart to heart. Molly May,  our first granddaughter, arrived on an incredible night. The night of June 20th 2016 which hosted the first full moon of summer,  and the beginning of the summer solstice! What a perfectly energetic night to be born! This little girl is unique! She has our hearts clearly wrapped around her precious, little, delicate, lovely, long fingers!! Randy and I holding our first grandchild. With 8 children, I expect to hold many 'grand-babies' in my lifetime, but Molly is our first. She is a picture perfect angel who has flown into our family, our hearts, and our lives to create joy, laughter, happy tears, and momentous memories!  Micheal and Molly, father and daughter, it was so wonderful watching my son became a dad. His loving care for his beautiful little family was clearly displayed in his every action that night, welcoming his precious baby girl into this amazingly big world.  Garrett Girls Gotta stick together like glue!
